Finally finished the Monte Sano View painting. I like to think that this is a view that the native tribes of Alabama, the Koasati Tribe and the Alabama Tribe saw when they looked into the valley below. The Italian translation for Monte Sano is" Healthy Mount". The Spaniard translation is " the mountain of health". We in Huntsville Alabama are lucky to have this beautiful view. For the most part it remains in beauty from the state parks program and The Land Trust of Huntsville.
I used oil paints mixed with a Liquin Impasto medium and various size knives to capture the roundness of the trees below and the roughness of the bark on those trees in the foreground.
