Painting My Heart Out

Well, I've been supper busy painting these last few weeks. This one, "Sunrise Beauty", measures 48"x48", mixed media, acrylic paint, and inks. I see this couple walking down the beach and holding hands. Confronted with a super show of sky colors reflecting off everything around including the water.
Here is a classic Cruciform formation in abstract. A must see in person as the canvas is textured and the colors fill in he gaps in the texture and roll down so beautifully. 30"x24"
Gone Fishin', 24"x30". Just love that weeping willow in there. I'll just bet there's a tire swing hidden in there somewhere!
Air Show, 20"x16", for the airplane buff in your family!!!!!!
And lastly, a lovely traditional painting called Lakefront Mountain! Oh how I long to be there!!! 10"x20' on textured canvas.

New this week

"Stand in your Greatness", new style and series. 20"x20", acrylic on gallery wrap. This new series of paintings comes from a place deep within where no thought exists. Only creation . It feels like I'm tapping into the greater creative cloud out there where all creative thought is born. Im running a crazy special on this painting in celebration of festival season. Now through June 27 th , this Athens show, this painting normally $200 will go for $ 75!…… yes you heard me right! so message me if you'd like to own this original.
"Seattle Night Skyline". 10"x20" framed in a custom built frame. Jim True does all my frames to match the feel of the painting. Again, normally this painting would go for $90, is going for the festival price of $45!!!! Folks thats an original with a custom frame! Whoooooo hoooooo!
This painting features the Seattle skyline with the Northern Lights above., acrylic on canvas. After the festival , prices will go back to their regular price. I'm practically giving these away . But i want to because times are tough out there and I believe people should have original art on their walls that they love.

This first painting in the group measures 24"x30" and is titled,"The Wedding". On the left side the bride awaits her soul mate. She is holding flowers. On the right side the groom awaits his soul mate, he is wearing a crown. There are other souls gathered to witness the ceremony about to be performed.
This piece belongs to the Cog series and is called," Cog Recognition". The moment of truth when the Cogs accidentally see their reflection in a pond and realize they are LIGHT! All this time they labour day an night, thinking life is full of work and drudgery. But now they know that they embody all that is beautiful. This Piece measures 20"x20"
Another of the Cog Series paintings and the last. "Cog Home". Measures 20"x20"
Lastly in the grouping is , "Follow your Dreams". A textured play on The Wizard of OZ. This piece has sold. It Measures 10"x20".

Through the Forrest

20"x24" acrylic on gallery wrap.
This piece is all knife work.  I used knives of various size to get the desired effect both in the trees and in the background. I've always gotten great pleasure form the use of knives on canvas.  The sound of the knife on the canvas and the way the roll of paint on the edge of the knife scrapes across the the subject. I especially enjoy working with many colors on one subject to get that marbled and striated appearance that only comes from the knife.

New Surrealism and Contemporary art

Birds on a Reed
36"x48" , mostly hand work on this one with very very little brushwork.
Acrylic on canvas.

unnamed
48"x36", acrylic on canvas. Again we find a another large contemporary piece done almost exclusively using my God given tools, i.e... fingers and palms! There are some stars and other markings scratched into the sky and greens using the end of my brush. This painting was an excersise in just painting purely what i feel with no hint toward structure.

Copper Moon
48"x60", mixed media on canvas.
Textured canvas with many layers on it.  I went through the creative process to that pure place inside thats exists to that conduit from the power flowing in from beyond. Materials include good quality stretched canvas, molding paste and marking. dry time , then a thin layer of latex paint followed by charcoal, acrylics, inks and oil stick.

The Moment of Recognition

The newest of the series from the Cog world, This 24"x24"x1 1/2" gallery wrapped, acrylic painted canvas , is just off the easel. These two traveling Cogs have had a moment of epiphany it would seem. as they see themselves reflected back in this puddle. What do they see, where are they going, where have they been? So many questions …….

The Loading Zone

Second painting in series of the Cog World. This one is titled "The Loading Zone", and is 20"x20"x 1 1/2" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas.
There was no real plan with this one the paint just sorta landed in a structured way . I think that's why I cannot be interrupted during the laying on of of the initial background colors.

Beginning of a New Series, "Cog"

48"x48"x1 1/2" acrylic on gallery wrap
This appears to be the first painting of the Cog World.
It comes from the dark corners of my mind.
We shall see how many, if any are produced. I do have another halfway finished, so there is at least another coming. Could be another series…….. the next one is the Cogs in "The Loading Zone".

Off The Easel

This is the most recent Cold Wax and Oil painting to have dried. Sooo very colorful and joyful!
"Brilliant", 20"x24"x1 1/2", cold wax and oil on gallery wrap canvas.

I Fear.
This painting is a reflection of the inner turmoil often felt inside us at various times in our lives.
"I Fear", 24"x18" acrylic on canvas

Really have been enjoying painting on wood these days. This one is knife work, the background and the flowers.
"Dancing Daisy's",12"x24", acrylic on wood frame.

Do You just love the sea and an open painterly hand? This painting fits just that. Also done with a knife and fluid acrylics. Some finger work as well.
"Port in the Storm",20"x24"x1 1/2", acrylic on gallery wrap canvas.

When this painting first began to appear I was enthralled by it's whimsy. I let the imagery appear and tell me what the painting was going to be. No plan in hand at all! This is what the canvas called out to be, a sort of motherly figure, who may be holy, holding the world in her hands. The children seem to be a bit surprised at what they find!
"What in the World", 20"x16", acrylic on canvas.

No this would be Lucinda Williams, country/rock-a-billy singer. She has THE best gravely bluesy voice. Just love her!
"Lucinda Williams", 20"x16", acrylic on canvas.

This is a larger canvas, full of depth, made by the numerous markings. The crowned woman is singing in the dreams, ushering them into being.
"Singing in the Dreams", 48"x24"x1 1/2", acrylic on gallery wrap canvas.
