A Salute To George Jones

Ya know I was raised on good ole George Jones and his whiny crying in your booze type of of country music. I was fortunate to see him in concert a few years back just after he had earned that "No Show Jones" reputation. He showed up for our concert and he did a damn fine job too!
Wow, I can hardly believe that he's gone.
I couldn't let the moment pass without memorializing him in paint.. 16"x20" Acrylic on canvas.

Getting there

This little pooch whoochie is a little practice doggie that I did. I chose a particularly hard subject so that I could improve my skills. Perspective is a little off on this one, I must admit, but the face and head are overall very well executed I think.
I like painting the dogs, I think because I'm a dog lover! Call me with your orders! Only the finest oil paints and linen surfaces used.
this one is 9"x12"

Pet Portraits

Did this little Golden in the middle of the night. I had a client ask me , "do you do dogs portraits?" Hmmm, well, I never had before so I had to practice one. So at 3 am this little darling was painted. Its a 9"x12" on linen board ,oil of coarse.
This Portrait is on conventional cotton canvas, oil. 8"x10" this is my dog Kosmo.
Truth be told, I prefer the linen board. I know its more expensive but it takes the paint in such a lovely way.

Looks like we are now in the business of pet portraits! I love the doggies!

Heavenly Inspirtions

While working in the studio the past two days I have been listening to old gospel hymns. Of course music always influences not only how I paint , but what I paint. This Holy Man measures 16"x16" on gallery wrap

This painting I started about a year and a half ago but never finished I decided to pull it out and work on it again, I find it quite touching.

Mother Theresa

While in a blank spot about what to paint, I asked my friend what I should paint. She replied simply," Mother Theresa", and so we have her here in oils on canvas 11"x14".
I couldn't stop thinking  about all the good and selfless tasks she did everyday of her life just to ease the life of another. I researched many poses, there are many photos of her. This one seem to me to capture the weariness her poor body felt yet it still holds the wisdom in her eyes for all she has seen.

Sunflowers

12"x24" acrylic on gallery wrap canvas. a showy turnout of sunflowers in an unusual array of colors. Always keeping it fresh and apealing. The background was done in a splatter effect. and layers of different color glazes. I like this one.

Uncle Albert

Textured Mixed Media of Albert Einstein measuring 20"x24", again on board. I'll tell you he's just a riot to look at ! A fav for any physics.

Seaside Cliff

This 10"x20" acrylic is painted on board. The colors are absolutely vibrant! Using again the highly pigmented Golden fluid acrylic this one seemed to carve itself out of the side of the cliff. I love diversity of sea colors.
 Enjoy!
