Goin' Bear Hunting

My friend Martha took and posted a picture one day of her grandbaby and his daddy walking down this trail. I said to Martha, " Martha, can I paint this picture I love it?" She allowed that and what's more commissioned the painting as a Christmas gift. When I asked her where they were going, she said that her grandson had a toy riffle slung over his back and they were going bear hunting! I worked on this one off and on for the last week and this is the final result.

Sunset on the Water

A friend an I got together to paint and chat, as we do from time to time. This little acrylic was my "Go to" default painting. Usually I'll go to daytime beaches. For some of us though, reaching out to that greater Creator means a simple acknowledgment in the morning upon arising and again a beautiful goodnight in the evening. This, sometime very fragile connection, is all I get to re-mind myself where I come from and where I'll go.

Supper

I've been inspired by the Daily Painters email I get everyday in my email box.
They are simply a group of artist who do a little something for the folks out there. I was hungry and making supper plans. I thought we would have some spaghetti. Then I began to put a picture together of the elements involved, and , so, there you have it! "Supper!"

It Comes and It Goes

Zinnia-Bee

My friend Barb is an excellent photographer and she took the original photo from which this little painting is modeled after. We're gonna call it "Zinnia-Bee, because that's exactly what it is. A painting of a bee inside a Zinnia flower way out in the land of sunshine, sea and glorious mountains, yup, California.

As you can see, I used a lot of thick paint to bring out the depth of the petals.

Dreadlocks

This is another Flow painting that was done to the album, "Best of Santana!" Oh you know, Jingo, Evil Ways, Black Magic Woman...etc....etc...
So, again, done with lot's of layers starting with varnish to allow the liquefied paint to flow more easily along whatever path it's going to take. If you add Flow Medium to your liquefied paint you will get the vibrancy of color that's quite lovely and bright. Like this one here.

I have found in these flow paintings that if you try to control the pathways of the paint, you may end up with a painting not a flow painting. Tilting , shaking, and wiggling are all acceptable movements though and produce beautiful blends. Fingers and brushes tend to be too controlled of movements and take away from the affect.
